Finally!

As with everything in life, you live and learn. Being an indie author has definitely been a learning curve.

I’ve written a little gift book for new mums: a stripped-back, tongue-in-cheek look at the realities of being handed responsibility for a brand-new human.

Normal Service Will Resume was inspired by watching my eldest daughter become a mum herself. Like so many new mothers, she struggled not only with the responsibility, but with the overwhelming feeling that she wasn’t doing enough. It wasn’t helped by the endless stream of perfectly curated mumfluencer reels that make motherhood look as effortless as getting your nails done.

The book was due to be released at the beginning of April, but formatting issues had other ideas. It’s currently in formatting hospital and should finally be out in the world within the next three weeks.

I only wish I’d found this formatter sooner—it would have saved me a lot of time, money, and headaches. But that’s indie publishing: you live and learn.

On the bright side, I now have a brilliant editor and formatter who works absolute magic.

More about it soon.

have a great week,

Writing Goals.

I have so many ideas for blogs I’d like to write, but for now, this bad boy cookie is all that I could think of. It teased me. Mocked my sweet tooth. It mocked my willpower. My fault, I put it smack bang beside my keyboard. So I ate it. In fact I ate three.

For now dear readers I shall update you on my writing progress.

“Normal Service Will Resume”, a gift book for new mums, is currently being formatted. Inspired by my eldest daughter after having her little girl (my absolute weakness), I noted how much pressure women are under these days to look like the mumfluencers who make it look so easy to have a baby and maintain your sanity and feminity. A short, quirky look at the reality was written.; a pocketful of reminders of how life with a brand new human being really is, in this crazy world of reality versus filters.

I have decided to publish “Must Have Sense Of Humour” in the autumn. It’s been a fun book to write and I have been akin to a child on a sugar rush with no boundaries. It’s relatable women’s fiction with the appeal of romantic comedy…except this is about women who reach the age of changes, transitioning from womanhood to queenager. Menopausal and on a mission to garner their former selves, except with experiences from the university of life to give them the confidence to revive their former selves. Amy, the protagonist is at the centre of this mission and her friends are dragging her into the 21st century dating scene. I genuinely can’t wait to unleash Amy and her friends into the world.

In the meantime I am penning another romcom, this time based on the Greek islands of Hydra and Spetses. A grumpy and sunshine story. A hard headed, Elvis loving woman versus a businessman who’s not used to being kept on his toes. Watch this space.

Oh, and I’ve set up a Linktree account and a landing page for subscribers to my newsletters. I’m no techie, and it’s because of my fear of all the stuff that goes with building these things that writers need to keep readers in the loop, and marketing, that has prevented me from doing anything until now. So, I’ve put on my big girl’s knickers and bitten the bullet. Watch this space.

Very excited!

Early on in the year, I had been approached by a book club that represents Sussex. I had been asked if I would be willing to donate three copies of Being Zara for a reader competition. The books have gone to new homes and, photographed with a lucky participant is the book. A relatable women’s fiction story that covers heartbreak, happiness, strength, becoming a new mum and finding yourself.

About The Author

Although Eva has written since she was a young girl (many moons ago), it took a long stay in hospital in 2019 for her to realise that life really is too short to put your dreams on the back burner. Being Ines was penned during her time rehabilitating, followed closely by Being Zara. Now a full time writer, she is busy writing several novels and a kiddie series—it keeps her out of mischief at least.

When she’s not writing, Eva is often goofing around on a FaceTime call to her grand baby, reading, and geeking out on history and astronomy—and kidding herself that she will fit her middle-aged buns into those jeans she’s had since the 90s.
